Description

The Church of St Andrew is a parish church that has been converted into a hay barn. It was built around 1770 and restored in 1905, with further work by Christopher Turnor between 1925 and 1930, and additional renovations around 1980. The structure is made of greenstone and ironstone rubble blocks, with some limestone and red brick. It features plain tile and pantile roofs, along with early 20th-century brick tumble gables, brick coped gables, and decorated brick eaves. A 20th-century brick gabled bellcote with a round-headed bell opening is present, along with the nave and chancel.

The west end has a doorway with a broad wooden lintel and panelled double doors, both dating from around 1980. The north side of the nave has two 18th-century round-headed windows with plain archivolts and small raised keystones, featuring 20th-century cross mullions. The north side of the chancel is plain, while the east end of the chancel has a single 18th-century round-headed window with a plain archivolt, raised keystone, and 20th-century cross mullions. The south side of the chancel is also plain, and the south side of the nave has two 18th-century round-headed windows with plain archivolts, raised keystones, and 20th-century cross mullions.

Inside, the roofs have painted decoration, and there is a chancel arch from 1905. 'Arts and Crafts' fittings from around 1925 to 1930 have been removed from the church. The chancel contains several 18th-century gravestones, including one for Elizabeth Grace, who died in 1721, featuring a round-headed panel and a crude skull and crossbones.
