Description
The summer house at Utterby House is an early 19th-century structure made of red brick, featuring a slate pyramidal roof and a central stack. It has a square plan and is a single storey with a small cellar, with single bay sides. The entrance is accessed by three steps and consists of a planked door with a glazing bar overlight. The other three sides have glazing bar sashes, one of which includes panels beneath, while the rear side has the cellar entrance below. Inside, the summer house boasts full-height early 18th-century raised and fielded panelling, a dentillated frieze, and Doric pilasters flanking an angled corner fireplace with a plain moulded surround. It is likely that the materials used were repurposed from the early 18th-century house when it was remodeled in the early 19th century.
