Description

The Church of St. Andrew is a parish church located on Main Street in Farlesthorpe. It was built around 1800 and underwent restorations in 1881, with the chancel being rebuilt in 1912 and further restoration in 1953. The church is constructed from Farlesthorpe yellow brick and red brick, with ashlar dressings and a slate roof. It features a nave with a bellcote, a west porch, and a facetted chancel.

Around 1912, a gabled red brick porch was added, which includes ashlar kneelers and a dentillated eaves course. The porch has a pointed doorway with double planked doors, and above it is a plaque commemorating the 1953 restoration and the date of the single bellcote on the gable. The nave's side walls have brick dentillated eaves, with a single semi-circular headed window on the north side and two on the south, each featuring ashlar key and impost blocks. The mid-19th century facetted chancel has three chamfered lancets.

Inside, the westerly part of the side walls and the west wall are made of coursed squared greenstone rubble, likely from an earlier building. The chancel arch is chamfered and pointed, dating from the 19th century. Most fittings are from the 19th century, except for the 15th century octagonal font, which has a plain stem and quatrefoils with rosettes on the sides of the bowl.
