Description
Skendleby Post Office and adjoining house is a building from the early 19th century, with later 19th-century alterations. It features red brick headers and yellow brick stretchers, topped with a concrete pantile roof. The building is two storeys high and consists of four bays, with the left single bay being slightly later in construction.
The entrance includes a panelled door with a glazing bar overlight, set beneath a segmental arch. On either side of the doorway are single, slightly projecting triangular arched panels, each containing a segmental arched sash window with lateral glazing bars. To the left, there is a large 19th-century projecting double fronted shop window, which has two large glazing bar windows on brick plinths; the outer corner of the right window is curved, and the left side features a similarly curved wall.
The central recessed doorway has a panelled and glazing bar double door, along with a decorative overlight. The building has an entablature with overhanging eaves leading to a flat roof. Above the shop window, there are two similar sash windows, with a single glazing bar sash to the left, all positioned under segmental arches.
