Description
Old Chequer's Inn is an inn dating from the early to mid 18th century, with later additions from the late 19th and 20th centuries. It is constructed of red brick and features a pantile roof that has a large brick ridge stack and a tall external lateral stack on the main front. The building is single storey with a garret and has a five-bay front that includes a plinth and eaves band on the return walls, forming a T-plan layout.
The entrance is a lobby type, with a central doorway that has a 19th-century bracketed and gabled hood, decorative barge boards, and a panelled door. To the left of the entrance are two glazing bar casements, both with segmental heads. To the right, there is a blocked rectangular window opening, with a single glazing bar casement beyond it. All the windows are fitted with 20th-century shutters.
