Description
Grange Cottage is a gate lodge cottage that once served the former park of Stoughton Grange, which has since been demolished. It dates from the late 18th century or early 19th century and is constructed of painted brick with a black glazed pantiled roof. The building is single storey and features a picturesque style with Gothick details.
The pyramidal roof has extended eaves supported by rustic bracketted posts. At the center of the roof is a brick stack adorned with dog-toothed dentils in the moulding. The front elevation showcases a central segmentally arched doorway, flanked by Gothick arched sash windows. The door and window arches are highlighted by black painted brick voussoirs, with the dog-toothed dentils painted white. On the south elevation, there is a loggia that features three blind trefoiled niches, each topped with a detached crocketted gablet canopy.
