Description

A terrace of six houses dating circa 1830, located on the South Side of South Street. The houses are constructed with a stucco facade, distinguished by a band at the sill level of the first floor and bracketed eaves. The roof is covered with machine tiles. The terrace is two storeys high and originally contained fifteen windows, two of which are now blocked. The windows are sash windows with glazing bars. The lower storey features arched treatments around all windows and identical recessed doors, each topped with a radial fanlight. The original doors were six-panelled. Number 23 projects forward, showcasing a moulded wooden doorcase on its north-east side. The centre of the terrace originally included a carriageway arch leading to the rear, now blocked except for a small arched entrance to the rear footway.
