Description
The Manor House and Blacksmiths Cottage date to the late 17th and early 18th centuries, with extensions from the early 19th century and alterations in the 20th century. The building is constructed of coursed ironstone rubble, with a pantile roof, brick ridge stacks, and brick end stacks. It follows an L-shaped plan. The main range facing Church Lane has a part-glazed entrance door to the left of a projecting cross wing to the right; the cross wing features a wooden lintel. A three-light window with a central sliding light and segmental-arched brick head is located on the ground floor to the left, also featuring a wooden lintel. A 20th-century window with a wooden lintel sits on the ground floor far left. The full-height cross wing projecting to the right has a 20th-century window on the first floor to the gable end, also with a wooden lintel. Quoins and a stone-coped gable are present on the rear of this cross wing. A two-storey, single-window extension projecting to the left serves as Blacksmiths Cottage, constructed of coursed ironstone rubble on the ground floor and brick on the first floor under a pantile roof, with a brick end stack. This cottage has a blocked front door and a three-light ground floor window with a segmental-arched brick head and a central sliding light, alongside a two-light casement window on the first floor with a wooden lintel. The interior features an open fireplace with a chamfered bressummer.
