Description

Ivy House is a house dating from the early to mid-18th century, with alterations and extensions made in the 20th century. It is constructed of coursed squared ironstone with a Swithland slate roof and brick end stacks. The house is arranged in an L-shape. The main front of the house faces a garden to the south and features a blocked central doorway, a “French” window to the left, and a 20-pane sash window to the ground floor right, all with segmental-arched brick heads. The first floor has 16-pane sash windows with stop-chamfered wood lintels. Other features include a chamfered plinth, quoins, hollow-chamfered stone eaves, stone-coped gables with kneelers. A single-storey extension to the right is built of coursed ironstone rubble with a pantile roof, and a full-height wing extends to the rear left, its side elevation facing the street. The street elevation has a continuous chamfered plinth. A stone-coped rear gable is visible on this wing. The interior of the house has not been inspected.
