Description
The Old Rectory (Number 8) and the attached outbuilding is a former rectory dating from the mid to late 18th century. It is constructed of coursed squared ironstone with limestone dressings, topped with a 20th-century tile roof and featuring brick end stacks. The building has a double-depth plan and stands three stories tall with a five-window range. The main front faces the garden and church to the south, showcasing a central panelled and part-glazed 20th-century door with an overlight, framed by a bolection-moulded limestone surround and a flat-arched head. The ground and first floors have 12-pane sash windows with similar heads, while the second floor features 6-pane sash windows with flat-arched heads. Notable architectural details include limestone quoins, a cornice band, a plain stone-coped parapet, and stone-coped gables.
To the left, the attached outbuilding is single-storey and has an L-shaped plan with a short link to the Old Rectory. This outbuilding has been converted for residential use and is also made of coursed squared ironstone, with a pantile roof and a brick end stack. It includes one plank door with a wood lintel, a 20th-century door with a segmental brick head, and a three-light casement window with a similar head in between. The interiors of both buildings have not been inspected.
