Description
Clifton Cottage, also known as Number 14, Church Cottage, is a cottage dating from the 18th century, with extensions from the 19th century and alterations from the 20th century. It is constructed of coursed ironstone rubble, with brick extensions, and features a pantile roof along with brick stacks at the ends and ridge. The original layout is a two-unit plan. The cottage is two stories high and has a two-window range. The entrance includes a six-panel, part-glazed door that was formerly central, featuring a segmental-arched brick head and a gabled hood supported by brackets. There are three-light windows on both the ground and first floors, with a central sliding sash. The ground floor windows have segmental-arched brick lintels, while the first-floor windows are topped with stop-chamfered wood lintels. To the right, there is a two-story, one-window extension made of red brick, which includes two- and three-light casement windows.
