Description

The building consists of a barn, now used as garages and a stable, along with outbuildings located approximately 20 meters northwest of No. 33 (Old House) on Main Street in Kibworth Harcourt. The barn likely dates from the late 17th century, while the outbuildings were constructed in the mid-19th century.

The barn is made of red brick with a granite rubble stone plinth and features a Swithland slate roof with a truncated brick stack at the rear. The outbuildings are also of red brick and have a Welsh slate roof with a brick ridge stack. The gables face the front, with the barn on the right side bordering Albert Street.

The barn is a tall single storey structure that includes, from left to right, a stable door with an overlight, a 6-pane window, and two pairs of double doors beneath likely 19th-century brick segmental arches. There are two loopholes above these doors, six loopholes on the right end, and a buttress, along with loopholes and a blocked central double door at the rear. The roof is a three-bay triple purlin tie-beam design with collars and wind braces supporting the upper purlin.

Attached to the left end of the barn is a two-storey outbuilding featuring a loft door and a two-light horizontal sliding sash window above a 6/6 sash window, along with a door that has an overlight, an 8/8 sash window, and another door with an overlight. The ground floor windows have cambered lintels. There is also a further one-storey outbuilding on the left end. It is possible that the barn was one of the original outbuildings associated with No. 33 (Old House), which is dated 1678.
