Description

West Lodge, formerly known as Southfields, is a lodge for Keythorpe Hall, built in the early 19th century. It is constructed from coursed ironstone rubble and features a Welsh slate roof with ridge cresting. This small cottage ornee is picturesquely asymmetrical and single-storeyed, designed in a T-plan with an additional projecting gabled porch that contains a doorway at the angle. The south gable includes a canted bay window with ornate glazing bars and a 3-light casement window above it. The west gable has two 2-light casements and a crest above. Each gable is adorned with overhanging eaves, decorated barge boards, and a finial. There is also a decorated stone and brick axial stack.
