Description
The Baptist Chapel is a building primarily from the 18th century, with an extension added around 1815. The oldest part is likely a small single-storey wing at the rear, which features two renewed three-light casement windows. The later 18th-century section has an L-shaped plan and includes a hipped roof bay at the entrance front, which contains a door framed by wood architrave and a two-light casement window to its right. Above this, there is a four-light sash window with a steeply arched head, although this is a 19th-century addition. The left side of the main range has two-light casement windows with cambered heads. The building features a moulded eaves cornice and a lean-to porch on the right with a round-headed archway. Behind the porch is a canted end gable, which is a 19th-century addition, and it has paired round-headed windows on each facet, recessed with stained glass in leaded lights and a chequerwork brick band above. The moulded eaves detail is repeated in this section. The chapel was founded in 1650.
