Description
Nos. 53 to 56 on High Street, built in 1845, are a late example of their architectural style. The building features a well-designed stucco facade, with a band connecting the first-floor windows at impost height and a moulded wooden eaves cornice. The roof has three stone chimneys and the structure stands three storeys tall. It has four windows, which are sashes with glazing bars, and the first-floor windows are round arched. The ground floor consists of four shops, which generally have modern glazing, although No. 55 retains its vertical glazing bars. Panelled Corinthian pilasters flank each shop, with a cornice above. There are side doors with steps leading to the entrances.
