Description

The Walnuts is a late 16th-century house. It is timber-framed with brick infill and has a Welsh slate roof. The house comprises a two-storey main range and a cross wing. The main range has four bays of uneven sizes, with a central doorway. The bay to the left projects slightly and is divided by two horizontal rails, one of which is moulded; it contains a three-light casement window on each floor. To the right of the doorway is another three-light casement window, followed by the projecting gabled wing, also with casement windows. The timber frame is of post and truss construction. The main range has continuous vertical posts, where there is now no sill. In the cross wing, the sill beam rests on a boulder course, and there's arch bracing with a middle rail interrupting the vertical posts. Arch bracing is also present on the four-bay side elevation of the wing.
