Description
The gate piers and gate, steps, balustrade, and wall at the churchyard of St. John the Baptist date from the 18th century. They are constructed from ashlar, rubble stone, and wrought iron. Leading to the west front of the church, there is a pair of gate piers topped with pineapple finials and a fine wrought iron gate. Beyond the gate, there is a flight of nine stone steps with a balustrade on either side. To the right of the piers, a retaining wall approximately 2 meters high borders the churchyard and includes a horse trough. The gate was originally located at King's Norton Hall, which was demolished in the late 18th century.
