Description

The Old Vicarage is a cottage dating from the mid-19th century, with earlier origins in the 18th century. Constructed primarily of red brick with a Welsh slate roof, it features brick stacks at the right end and two at the left end. The eaves are detailed with brick dentilations. The windows are predominantly 2-light casements; there are two 2-light casements on each floor, with a central blank window. A similar casement is located on the ground floor, flanked by a part-glazed door. All windows have cambered lintels. A 2-light window is visible on the right end of the building, set within a section of 18th-century brickwork, and another is located in the attic. The right end of the cottage adjoins a left gate pier in the Churchyard of St. John the Baptist. Formerly the vicarage or curate's house, the building is included on the list for group value.
