Description
This is a pair of metal basket flower beds located in the garden of Melbourne Hall. They date from the mid-19th century and are made of cast iron. Each flower bed is raised and square, set within a shallow open frame that features crossing, hooped iron bars designed to resemble wicker flower baskets. These flower beds are later additions to the early 18th-century gardens, which were designed by the Royal Gardeners to Queen Anne, London and Wise, for Thomas Coke of Melbourne Hall. The gardens are recognized in the Derbyshire Historic Gardens Register at Grade I.
