Description

The Cruck Barn is a possibly medieval, five-bay barn constructed of stone rubble, featuring curved cruck trusses. It has a stone slate roof, although part of one slope has been replaced with corrugated roofing material. A section of the roof, covering five bays, has been damaged by fire. The barn includes four sets of cruck blades, along with many original purlins and spars. There is some evidence suggesting that it may have originally been timber framed throughout, particularly in the section of the wall that is covered by the most northerly of two penticed extensions on the east elevation.
