Description

The stone wall with a plaque is located in the car park to the north of the Mason's Arms Public House on High Street in New Mills. This rubble stone wall features a plaque dating from the early 19th century, which is a stone tablet that was removed from a former Mason's Arms Public House. The plaque is inscribed with the text: "James Turner dealer in foreign spirituous liquors Fine ale and porter." It is adorned with two early 19th century gentlemen as supporters and includes masonic symbols. The design is completed with a cornice that features scrolls and carved grapes.
