Description

Number 87 is a farmhouse with attached garden walls, possibly dating from the 17th century and rebuilt around 1800. It is constructed of whitewashed rubble and features a stone slate roof with later brick stacks. The building has a two-unit range, with the right-hand unit originally serving as an agricultural outbuilding.

The exterior is two storeys high, with an off-centre doorway that has a plank door. To the left of the doorway is a probable blocked doorway, followed by a 6-pane glazing bar window. To the right, there is a 12-pane, 2-light casement window, and above it, a single 6-pane window. Attached to the right gable is a single-storey lean-to with a single doorway. The right return of the building has a single window at the first floor. The rear features a 2-light casement window on the ground floor and a 6-pane window above, along with a small lean-to to the right.

The property includes dry-stone garden walls attached to the front. Number 87 and Number 85 are believed to be remnants of the former independent hamlet of Buxton-le-Grene. The interior has not been inspected.
