Description
The gateway and attached walls between Sudbury Hall and the church were built in 1626. They are constructed from red brick and ashlar. The stone-coped red brick walls extend a short distance on either side of the gateway, which features a possibly ex-situ moulded architrave with a pulvinated frieze and a renewed 20th-century cross finial. On the south side, there are ashlar panels; the left panel is inscribed with "OMNE BONUM/DEI DONUM" (meaning "all good comes from God"), while the right panel bears the initials V, E, and M along with the date "ANNO/1626."
