Description
Moot Hall is a plain single-storeyed building constructed in 1839, located on Chapel Lane. It is built of ashlar and features a recessed door with steps, two sash windows, and moulded stone eaves. The building has three panels made of Hopton Wood stone, with the central panel enriched by an armorial device, while the side panels are carved with mining emblems, including scales, a pick, and a trough. The Barmoot Court is held here, and a massive brass dish from the time of Henry VIII, used for measuring lead ore, is preserved in the building. The property is owned by the Duchy of Lancaster.
