Description

Nos 71 to 77 Long Row are a terrace of early industrial housing built between 1794 and 1797 by William Strutt to accommodate workers for the new mills and warehouses in Belper. The stone houses are situated on a hillside and feature a pitched slate roof. They are three storeys high, with one window each on the lower and second floors, and some additional small windows on the first floor. The windows have stone lintels and are fitted with sashes that include late 19th-century glazing, while the top floor has small paired sashes. The doors are designed with voussoirs and cambered head linings. Notably, there is a stone baulk attached to the corner of the wall at No 71.
