Description

Christ Church is a Church of England building constructed in 1849-1850, designed by architect H J Stevens of Derby. It is built in the Early English style, with its east end facing the street. The east window features three lancets set under a wide arch, and the gable end is coped. The base of this elevation is supported by flying buttresses, with angle buttresses that end in spirelets. There are five side lancets, and a bellcote is located at the west end.

Inside, the church contains geometric and Victorian stained glass, as well as a notable open wrought and cast iron screen. A west balcony features Gothic arched panelling. Among the memorials is a brass plaque dedicated to George Herbert Strutt.
