Description
Buckland Hollow Farmhouse is a farmhouse built in 1690, with 19th and 20th-century alterations. It is constructed of coursed rubble sandstone featuring flush quoins and ashlar dressings, topped with a steeply pitched mid-19th century plain tile roof that has overhanging eaves and a large stone ridge stack. The building has four bays and two storeys plus attics.
The central entrance features a quoined chamfered doorcase with a 20th-century board door. To the east, there is a 20th-century two-light recessed and chamfered mullion window with a dripmould, and a blocked 17th-century window beyond it. To the west, there is an inserted board door with two 20th-century windows beyond, one with two lights and the other a single light. Above, there is a similar 20th-century three-light window in a 17th-century style to the west, along with two original 17th-century three-light recessed and chamfered mullion windows with dripmoulds to the east, and a small oval blocked window with a dripmould in between.
Prominently displayed above is a raised diamond-shaped datestone inscribed with '1690'. Centrally located above this is a 19th-century gabled dormer featuring a two-light recessed and chamfered mullion window with a dripmould. The rear elevation facing the street includes a staircase turret with two-light recessed and chamfered mullion windows at half landing levels, and similar 20th-century windows on either side.
