Description
The lodge at Yew Tree Avenue in Clipsham Park Wood dates from around 1860. It is constructed of coursed squared stone with a stone plinth and dressings, topped by a plain tile pyramid roof featuring a central moulded stone stack with four grouped flues. The building is single-storey and has a 6/6 sash window on either side of a door that is sheltered by a stone canopy. There is also a 6/6 sash window at the left end and two similar windows at the right end. A wall connects this lodge to a smaller, similar one-storey building at the rear, which has a single flued central stack. This lodge serves as the entrance to the distinctive yew tree topiary avenue, which was formerly a drive to Clipsham Hall, and it is part of a group that includes the piers and gates nearby.
