Description

The entrance piers and gates at Clipsham Hall date from the 18th and 19th centuries. There is a pair of stone piers that once served a carriageway, along with a lower pier for a pedestrian gate. The piers are square in shape and feature fluted or panelled designs on the front and rear, complete with a plinth and a carved cornice. At the top of the piers are three finely carved crests in full relief, likely from the mid-19th century. The pedestrian pier is inscribed with the name Davenport Handley. The wooden gates, which are probably from the 19th century, complete the entrance. This structure has group value with the Church of St. Mary.
