Description
The Grange is a house, likely built in the early 17th century, although it has been refenestrated. It features rendered rubble construction with a stone plinth, coped gables, and a stone tiled roof. The building has two storeys with attics and a three-unit plan, which includes a lower service end to the right of the doorway. This service end has one bay and a three-light casement window on each floor, along with a brick gable stack.
The principal range has a doorway to the right, set within a timber gabled porch, and two three-light wood mullioned windows. These windows are separated by a full-height projection that contains the staircase, with an additional brick gabled projection that has a window between the hall and parlour. There are three gabled dormers and both axial and gable end brick stacks.
Projecting from the corner of the service end is a two-storey wing made of 19th-century brick, which has a separate doorway and porch on its inner face, along with latticed windows. To the right of this wing, an archway connects The Grange with Grange Cottage, above which is a painted lead plate displaying the date 1798.
