Description

This headstone, dated 1813, is located in the churchyard 1.5 metres southeast of the south aisle and commemorates Nathaniel Clark, a carter. It is made of Ketton limestone and features a large slab with a curved top. The carved relief frieze depicts a cart being pulled by four horses, set against a rustic backdrop that includes a gate, fencing, trees, and a mill. Below the frieze is a large oval panel containing commemorative verses, with the spandrels adorned with carvings of rustic implements. The headstone was illustrated in Country Life on March 7th, 1974.
