Description

The Church of St Botolph is a parish church that dates back to the early 13th century, featuring a nave from this period, a 14th-century tower, and a clerestory also from the 14th century. The chancel was added in 1871. The building is constructed from rubble with ashlar dressings and has a lead and tile roof. It consists of a nave, chancel, west tower, and a south porch.

On the south side, there is one lancet window and another window with plate tracery dating to around 1250, along with a square-headed 16th-century reading light. The clerestory has three bays with two-light perpendicular windows. The 12th-century windows on either side of the porch were "thoroughly repaired" in 1861. The heavily buttressed 19th-century chancel features a two-light "Decorated" window on the south side. The south doorway, dating to around 1175, has water leaf carving on its capitals. The 14th-century porch includes a sundial dated 1694, and the east window is a four-light "Decorated" window. The 14th-century western tower and spire have gabled ashlar lucarnes and a single light west window.

Inside, the church has an aisleless nave with moulded corbels on the nave tower arch and a chancel arch from 1871. The nave features 14th-century roof timbers, a 19th-century barrel organ, and a font dated 1797. There are also two 19th-century monumental slabs at the west end and numerous memorial tablets dedicated to the Walker and Fludyer families.
