Description

No 5 on High Street is a former General Post Office, dating from the late 17th century or early 18th century. The building is constructed of stone and has a stuccoed finish. It features a heavy moulded wooden eaves cornice and a stone slate roof. The structure is two storeys high and includes two hipped dormers with casement windows. There are two windows with moulded flush frames on the upper floor, along with one similar window on the ground floor, which also has a 19th-century shop front. Notably, there are no glazing bars on the windows. The adjoining shop, No 3, has been built in front of the east end of this building. Nos 5, 7, and 7A together form a group.
