Description
Top Hall is a house dating from the late 17th century. It is constructed of ashlar stone with a plinth, moulded bands, and stone dressings, topped by a hipped Collyweston slate roof featuring two moulded stone valley stacks. The principal facade faces the rear and consists of 2½ storeys with five 2-light stone mullion and transom windows, most of which were lengthened, likely in the mid 19th century. The central entrance is a part-glazed door with an overlight divided into two sections. Above, there are two 3-light dormers.
To the right of the main facade, there is a similar arrangement with a blocked central door, two 2-light dormers, and a basement featuring a 2-light window and a small door with a 1-light window. The left side of the facade mirrors this, but includes a tall central staircase window and a mid 19th century one-storey bay projection to the left, which has similar 6-light and 2-light windows. There are also three 2-light dormers and two basement 2-light windows.
Adjacent to this front is a small 1½ storey wing made of coursed rubble stone, with stone-coped gables and a side stack. The entrance is located in a mid 19th century one-storey extension, which also features stone mullion windows. Inside, there is a contemporary staircase with turned balusters and panelling.
