Description
The walls, gate piers, gates, sundial, and retaining wall at Top Hall date from the 18th and 19th centuries. They are constructed from ashlar, coursed rubble stone, and wrought iron. In front of the main entrance, there is a retaining wall approximately 1.5 meters high, with a flight of stone steps leading up to a lawn. Beyond this lawn is a similar wall topped with a central sundial, which features a fluted column and an octagonal plinth. Extending from the left corner of the entrance front is a stone-coped wall about 2 meters high, which includes two pairs of gate piers topped with stone balls. One pair has a fine wrought iron gate, while the other has double wooden gates. This structure is included for its group value.
