Description

The Cartwash, believed to date from around 1740 with later repairs, is located on Glaston Spring Lane. It features a rectangular pond surrounded by coped walls made of dressed stone on three sides, while the southern side has an open slope. The cartwash was used for soaking cart wheels to prevent the wood from shrinking due to the metal rims, as well as for soaking horses' feet.
