Description

Nos. 9 and 11 Spring Lane consist of a row of two houses dating from the early to mid-19th century. The construction is of coursed limestone rubble with dressed limestone quoins. The roof is slate with coped gables, and there are chimneys of ashlar and brick, one to the left and one to the right of centre respectively. The houses are two storeys and five bays wide. The first floor has regularly placed, paired wooden casement windows. The ground floor has an irregular arrangement with three-light windows flanking a door on the left side, and a later 20th-century wooden window with an asymmetrical top light on the right. A second door is situated in the fourth bay. Both doors are six-panelled; the right-hand door has glazed top panels. All window and door openings have long limestone lintels with keyblocks. The buildings are included on the listing for their group value.
