Description
The Church of St Barnabas was built in 1886 by architects Goddard and Paget. It is constructed of brick with stone dressings and features tiled roofs and a timber clerestory. The church has a long nave and aisles, with a west end facade that includes stone bands and a chequered pattern of stone and brick in the gable head. There is a large Perpendicular-style west window, and below it is a tile-roofed lean-to porch with a central arched entrance. At the northwest corner of the facade, there is an octagonal turret with a stone bell-stage, topped with pinnacles and a small spire. Inside, the church boasts a hammerbeam roof, a timber clerestory, and a timber arcade supported by octagonal stone piers.
