Description

Derwent House is a house dating from the 16th or early 17th century, situated on Old Chester Road. Constructed of red brick with a stone plinth, it is rectangular in plan. The house is tall and symmetrical, with a steep roof. Both storeys feature arcaded banding, incorporating three round-headed recesses. Originally, these recesses held rectangular casement windows; two are now blocked, and the remaining windows have largely been replaced with modern casements. The gabled ends display brick ornamentation and brick capping. Continuous brick banding runs along the facade, with a single window visible on each storey. A central grouped chimney stack is present. The roof is covered in old tiles. A small, modern addition has been built on the left-hand side.
