Description

No 997 on London Road is a mid-19th century building that was originally a toll house. It is constructed of red brick with stone dressings and stands two storeys tall. The front features a three-light stone mullioned window with a curved tympanum and a gabled design facing the road. The building has long-and-short quoins and a central doorway located in a canted bay with a hipped stone roof. The gable is coped with kneelers and has a truncated stack at the center, topped with slates. There are one-storey wings set back on each side of the main structure.
