Description
The Richardson Monument is located 6 metres south of the junction of the south aisle and chapel of the Church of St. Peter in South Hiendley. This monumental slab dates from the early 18th century and commemorates Richard Richardson of Brierley Lodge, a yeoman who died in 1721. The monument features a broad foliated border with a wavy band and delicately carved raised foliated decoration at the top. The full-length inscription is presented in elegant yet slightly primitive lettering. The monument also includes additions for his wife, Ellin, who died in 1728, and their son, Jonathan, who died in 1729.
