Description

The Cawthorn Monument, located 5 metres west of the porch of the Church of All Saints, is a monumental slab dating from around 1724. It commemorates Mary, the wife of Alvera Cawthorn, who died in 1724. The monument is made of sandstone and features a rectangular shape with a running vine border. It has a deep central band decorated with a large heart formed by two scrolls, flanked by raised lettering that reads "17 24" and "M C". Below this band, there is an inscription that states: "Her body here rests Her soul now sings The praises of the King of Kings."
