Description

The green monument, located 12 metres south of the south chapel of the Church of St. Peter, is an early 18th-century monumental slab. It commemorates two children of George and Ann Green of Brierley: Sarah, who died at the age of 3, and John, who died at 7, both in August 1734. The monument features a grooved margin surrounding a round-headed panel, adorned with carved spandrels. Each child has a separate inscription in elegant serif lettering, with raised decorated initial letters "H". The panel also includes an inscription for George, the father, who died in 1737.
