Description
The Rhoads Monument, located 2 metres south-east of the porch of the Church of All Saints, is a monumental slab dating from around 1660. It commemorates Thomas Rhoads, who died in 1660. The monument is made of sandstone and features a rectangular shape with a stylised running vine border. There is a deep central band adorned with elaborate raised decoration, including a large stylised heart, the date "16" "60" in the upper corners, and the initials "T" "R" in the lower corners. Above this band, there is an inscription in incised capitals with a raised decorated initial letter "H" set in a sunk panel. Below the band, an elegant incised script verse is present, although parts of it are now worn and illegible.
