Description
The Fether monument, located 7 metres southeast of the porch of the Church of All Saints, is a monumental slab dating from around 1699. It commemorates Mary, the daughter of William Fether, who died in 1699. The monument is made of sandstone and has a rectangular shape. It features a margin of double incised lines with scrolls in the outer corners. There is a deep central band decorated with a large heart formed by two scrolls, flanked by raised lettering that reads "16" "99" "M" "F" in the upper and lower corners, respectively. Above this band, there is incised capital lettering, and below it, a verse. The monument also includes additions for Mary, daughter of Francis Oldridge, who died in 1711, and Mary, the mother of the first Mary mentioned, who died in 1716.
