Description
This is a well-head cover dating from the mid-18th century, located approximately 200 meters north-west of The Keepers in Warmfield-Cum-Heath. It is constructed from hammer-dressed stone and features a short wall that is six courses high. The wall includes a stilted-arched doorway with a wooden door mounted on strap hinges. The top of the wall is finished with ashlar coping that has a roll-moulded edge and short returns on both the left and right sides. This structure is part of the water system designed to supply cisterns on the Heath Estate and is attributed to the improvements made by the Smyth family at Heath Hall around 1753.
