Description
The Kennels at the Keepers is an early 19th-century building constructed from hammer-dressed stone with a stone slate roof. It is a single-storey structure that faces the rear yard of The Keepers cottage. The front features five evenly spaced doorways, each with monolithic lintels, wooden door frames, and ventilated overlights. The doors include sliding central panels. On the left side, there are two arched windows with projecting sills that match those of the Keepers cottage. Attached to the right is a set of lower kennels, which are set back and have three arched doorways with a lean-to roof against the boundary wall at the rear. The larger kennels were used for gun-dogs, such as Labradors and retrievers, while the lower kennels were designated for terriers. Inside, one rear room contains a fireplace with a chimney crane that was previously used for heating pheasant feed.
