Description
The Blacksmith's Cottage is a house dating from the early 18th century, with an early 19th-century rear extension. It is built from hammer-dressed stone and has a stone slate roof. The cottage features a two-cell direct-entry plan leading into the second cell and stands two storeys high. On the first floor, there are two windows. The doorway has composite jambs, a segmental-arched lintel, and a chamfered surround. The windows on either side of the doorway have been significantly altered in the mid-19th century. The cottage has coped gables with kneelers, and a ridge stack, along with one additional stack, was added to the right gable in the early 20th century. The left-hand return displays quoins at the junction with an added outshut. This building is included for its group value.
