Description
The stable block, located approximately 30 meters north of Beech Lawn, dates from around 1830 and is constructed of hammer-dressed stone with a stone slate roof. It is two storeys high and consists of four bays, along with a lower bay that has a slightly later added bay. The building features quoins, and the first three bays have a segmental-arched doorway with voussoirs and an overlight, flanked by 12-pane sash windows. The fourth bay contains four square windows, two of which are blocked, while one retains a 9-pane fixed light. The lower bay on the right has an arched doorway similar to that in the second bay, next to a stone stair leading to a first-floor doorway with a monolithic lintel. To the right of this doorway is a square window with a 20-pane fixed light. The added bay features a window with a monolithic lintel and projecting sill on each floor, both retaining small-pane glazing. The building has a single ridge stack, and the right-hand return includes a doorway with a monolithic lintel and overlight, flanked by 4-pane sashes.
Inside, the stable area includes 19th-century features, with four-bay and two-bay roofs supported by fish-bone king-post trusses.
