Description
8 and 9 Woodhouse Square is a pair of houses, now used as offices, built between 1845 and 1855 by architect and builder R.W. Moore. The buildings are constructed of red brick with stone details and feature a slate roof. They are two stories high and have five first-floor windows, with one property being single-fronted and the other double-fronted. The entrance bays at positions 2 and 4 have top-glazed six-panel doors with overlights, framed by pilastered surrounds that include an entablature, cornice, and blocking piece.
In terms of windows, No. 8 has margin-pane glazing bars, while No. 9 features four-pane sashes, all set within architraves. The ground-floor windows have recessed panels below, and there are moulded sills and eaves bands. The buildings also have a moulded eaves cornice and a blocking course. Chimney stacks are positioned forward of the ridge on No. 9, and there are wide modern dormers. The interior has not been inspected.
